Uncle Dugs Interviews Goldie

Uncle Dugs’ Rinse FM show is perhaps the last radio slot dedicated to old skool drum and bass currently riding the airwaves, his shows have become known for the relaxed but in-depth interviews from some of the genres biggest names.
To date he has spoken at length to the likes of Nookie, Slipmatt, A Guy Called Gerald, and Kool FM founder Eastman.

This interview is probably the most fascinating, and it would be, as the interviewee is arguably jungle’s most interesting and enduring character, Clifford Joseph Price.

This three hour interview takes you from practically the birth of Goldie, to present day, and almost everything in between.

Blog to the Oldskool Radio 8/1/2012 + Imaginary Forces mix

Thursday, August 30th, 2012
blogtotheoldskool

Last wednesday’s show was fun as usual… nice guest mix by Imaginary Forces featuring all his favorite Pirate Radio jams 91-93. Following that, I did a little over an hour of 91 tracks mixed with 80′s & 90′s house. Rather than posting as one giant mp3, I’m breaking it up into the component parts, this way each piece is more easily downloadable (and higher bitrate).
Imaginary Forces – Straight from the Bedroom 91 – 93…

Technically this should be tagged as “Older than old skool!”

In 1910, the French engineer Leon Gaumant demonstrated his sound-and-film synchronizing Chronophone system at the Gaumant Palace—a 5,500 seat reconstruction of the Hippodrome, which was at the time Europe’s largest movie theatre—in Paris, FR.

At the time, moving pictures with synchronized sound were limited in length by the playing time of a gramophone records—the longest was 200ft, at 16 frames-per-second.

Another wicked old skool mix from Pete Dev/Null

Little bonus session here since a reasonable time slot opened up yesterday. I followed Havoc who played an ace 92-94 selection, so I started with 94/95 and tried to work my way back to 92 to make it all symmetrical like :)

DJ Overload – Live at Elements 06.21.2012 Mix

Really happy to get to post this… here’s a recording of probably the most fun I’ve had at a party this year! DJ Overload is an absolute legend of the East Coast US rave scene. He’s part of a VERY small and select crew of DJs who were actually pushing UK breakbeat hardcore from the earliest years here in the states, DJ’ing from before it even existed (’89). Aside from DJ’ing some of the biggest and most memorable early east coast raves, Overload also worked at Boston Beat, which for many years was THE place to get electronic music in Boston (I used to go there and still occasionally find old hardcore/jungle records from other sellers across the US which have the original “Boston Beat” pricetag on them…)…
