Highly polished material as we've come to expect from the Heavy Pressure camp. "This is Our War" leads with synth melodies and vocals that delay out over the track saying "This is the people's war, it is our war..." and drops into warped bass sounds over a steady beat. Flip for "Pressure" which combines an amazingly subtle use of the Apache break with some other breaks over a deep and powerful Reese/Terrorist style bassline. Yet another quality release cements Heavy Pressure as a front runner Stateside and a constant contributor worldwide.

Volume three comes right on the heels of the previous release, delivering the same heavy, bassy, dub flavors this label has already set up expectations of. "My Sound" brings more of the staple dubbed out ragga vocal clips over a wash of dubbiness and deep growling bass. "Burn it Down" is a steppier number also laced with delayed out keys and atmospherics and synthy bass stabs. Word now has it that Dub Assembly releases are now being rinsed in the USA, Canada, UK, Japan, Finland, Israel, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, France, and the Netherlands as well as BBC Radio 1 on both the Mary Anne Hobbs show and the "On the Wire" show.

The seminal Dallas Dubstep night, Dub Assembly, spawns a label courtesy of Jason Mundo. This second release comes on dubplate sized 10" vinyl and features two heavyweight dubbed out monsters. "We Kill You" features seemlingly never ending delayed out vocals, wobbly bass, stuttery beats and some over the top electric guitar samples. "Bring Murda" presents a steady and spacious dubwise vibe with piano vamping and vocal effects. All in all, a solid second release from this new and prolific stateside Dubstep label.

MDK Cartel

Seven heavy tunes here from the MDK Cartel. Ranging from pure Grime to more Hip-Hop oriented with shades in-between. Birmingham's MDK Cartel holds it down with solid vocals across the board. "Enemies", "John Peel" and "Movements" present more of a traditional Grime approach while tunes like "In the Dance" and "Blood Music" incorporate various Asian and Desi influences and "West Mids" ends the EP with a Dre style "gangster whine" (keyboard sample?) over a nice sub bass line. It appears that this EP is primarily being sold in digital format online. It's definitely worth the modest price.

Heavy Pressure lives up to it's name and keeps the releases rolling out. This one by NYC's Grapes features a more breaky approach but still inna dubwise style. The Sheep of Lords rolls with a dubbed out break and layers of dischordant sounds underpinned by a droning sub bass and some hand drums over the top. Rabbit Stew takes a more minimal approach building atmosphere subliminally around a frantic assortment of drums.
