Itchy, Grime MC from South London, UK

Location : South London, UK

How long have you been MCing, what got you started, and where do you see
yourself going with it from here?
I've been doing this ting for about a year properly now. Basically I was a solo MC doing all movements by myself back in the day but that all changed. I was browsing an Internet forum one
time and I spotted a topic bout a new crew forming, so I checked it out. A crew now known as 'Merk Boys' were recruiting for a younger team of MCs, I instantly got in touch. I gave in my demo and fortunately I was accepted.

The crew consisted of 7 MC’s (Agroe, myself, Vital, Shey Man, K9, Wholagun, and Nozza) and 2 DJs (Selinki Superstar Skilz and E.S.D). Once the whole team were together I was invited to go radio sets which were broadcasted on the net. I felt great because I knew my music career was going to start moving properly.

Set after set we merked. We then started to get recognised for our work. Unfortunately not every one was pulling their weight via tunes and radio (including me). That then resulted in the crew being split. Everybody went their own way. Fortunately I had enough support from producers and friends to stand on my own two feet.

In about 2 years time I see myself up at the top. My name on all flyers *laughs*. My face circulating on DVD's and TV.

What styles of music do you MC to?
All types. I think I can cover all aspects of music. I'm just versatile.

What draws you to UKG/Grime?
The thing that draws me to Grime is the hype. When I spit I feel the energy, it makes me feel good. But all the beefing needs to stop, it's all long. If we all collaborate more Grime will be unstoppable. Who remembers when forward riddim was released? That was big.

Where do you see Grime music going?
In a couple of years I see Grime music being recognised properly. More Grime artists making it mainstream and making Grime's name circulate. The downside is guns are sometimes related to
Grime music which i find irritating. Hopefully that will all stop.

And projects/releases/collaborations we should look out for?
Yes. Look out for Top Kat's mix CD 'A touch of frost' vol.1. Look out for Disturbed blades E.P. I've got so many collabs coming with all MC's, artists and producers from all over so look out for them get me.

Any shout outs?
Yeah. Big up you innit. Hold tight all DJs showin' man love, DJs like Spyro, Chef, Safman, Dreama, Sketch'E and all the rest. Also big up all producers helpin man out, Frisk45 ,Lazy ,Virgo, lil man, Rossi B and Luca, theres too many names to mention.
