Vibrant J

Hailing from the other London, near Toronto, Canada, Vibrant J has been pushing the UK Garage sound since he was introduced to it while visiting family in the UK in 1998.  Being a listener of the Hip-Hop and R&B scenes here in North America, the attraction to UK Garage was pretty evident after his cousin LJ, a DrumnBass DJ out of Birmingham, UK got him locked into his first pirate radio show late one night in London (the one in England) that summer.  The soulful vocals and MC’s over top of the UK Garage beats got him hooked very quickly.  Upon returning to Canada he brought his love for the sound back with him.

Supporting all the diverse avenues of the UK Garage scene, he still remains true to the Vocal / 4x4 / 2-Step sounds, playing out at clubs when he has the opportunity.

After a couple years of following the scene and listening to the likes of MJ, Todd Edwards, Matt “Jam” Lamont, Karl “Tuff Enuff” Brown and many of the other 4x4 producers, Vibrant J began to break into the learning curve of producing and leave the DJing to others as he found it frustrating to push a sound that was so foreign to his local audiences. He does hope to return to the decks soon… but due to his love of producing, he would classifies himself as just a Producer at this moment!

He is currently working on his own material on the Bumpy 4x4 side of things. Future works are in the talks with collaborations with SoulChampion member DeepSix. Look out for forthcoming tracks from the North of the (US) border!
