IRIS Productions, Chicago Dubstep DJs, Chicago Dubstep Producers, DJ Joseph, Eric H

Formed in 2001 by DJ Joseph and Eric H, IRIS Recordings has established itself as one of the premier sources of stateside Dubstep flavors. Functioning as a label, production house, DJ team, and live PA, IRIS is dedicated to bringing a deeper side of 2-Step Garage to recognition.

From their first collaborative release as IRIS Productions on their own label which dropped in January 2002 and received DJ support from, among others, Franz Schuier (Gush Collective, Germany), Oron Haus (Baltimore), and Monty Luke (Justice League, San Francisco) their productions have grown to exposure in many major dance music publications including URB, XLR8R, and Feedback magazines, inclusion on Urban Renewal mix CD's, releases on HOTFLUSH RECORDINGS UK, and airplay on international radio. J Da Flex in particular seems to have taken a particular liking to DJ Joseph's "The Lights" on his Underground Knowledge show on BBC RADIO 1XTRA.

IRIS Productions are hot on the remix tip as well. Their deep and jazzy rework of Amma's "Heartbeat" can be found on the West of Centre mix CD, "Insoul Sessions #2" (Inspirit Music UK) and on San Francisco's Voltage label is a rolling ragga shakeup of "Murther"" by Jackie's Army backed with a remix by Tino Corp (Jack Dangers and Ben Stokes).

The IRIS DJs have been doing their part to spread the Dubstep vibe in Chicago and beyond. From their seminal bi-weekly residency at the Streetside where they played alongside stateside early adopter DJ Casper and UK Garage superstars The Artful Dodger, back in the day, to other unique appearances at places like the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and the Museum of Contemporary Art. They have also played at "Outlet" at Big Wig in Chicago, "Soiree" in Seattle, and "Wheeled" in Milwaukee, WI as well as on on the airwaves of WLUW 88.7FM, Chicago.

In addition to their DJ appearances, Eric and Joseph have combined live performance into the mix as IRISoundsystem. Using effects, a laptop, and a compact synthesizer along with the turntables, the duo spin original tracks and custom remixes into the flow of records while adding prerecorded samples into the mix. Dubstyle delays and spiraling analog synth lines add a new dimension to an already deep dance floor experience.
