A recent transplant to San Francisco from Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, Cooper is the founder, owner, and in-house DJ for URBAN RENEWAL RECORDS. Originally a Jungle DJ, he joined the first wave of US DJs playing UK Garage and Brokenbeat in 1999 and never looked back. Once he got past treading water, appearances followed at all 4 occurrences to date of TRANSATLANTIC, the UKG showcase at Miami's annual Winter Music Conference. Cooper has also performed in San Francisco (Amoeba Music, Safe@The Top), New York (at the sadly departed Breakbeat Science event Acupuncture), Baltimore (Network at the Redwood Trust, Delivery at the Skylounge), and Atlanta (Rinse Cycle: Spring Cleaning).
Live, Cooper runs the gamut of the UKG sound; bumpy "4-On-the-Floor" vocal cutups to big Ragga vocals to minimal Electro 8-bar and Grime. With years of rare record collection (and the empty wallet to show for it!), upfront promos from RINSE IT, the Toronto, Canada based UKG record pool servicing North America's elite UKG DJs, and exclusive unreleased tunes from US producers, Cooper has a record selection to rival any UK Garage DJ in the US. He used this selection in 2004 to assemble, mix, and release TRANSATLANTIC BASS, the first commercially available DJ mix of all North American produced Underground Garage, Breakbeat, and Broken-Beat tracks.
